As in 1993, the Swedes competed hard against Canada at the World Junior Championships in the Czech Republic in 1994 but Sweden had to settle for a second-place finish at 6-1-0. The gold medal went to Canada with a record of 6-0-1. The only team that did not lose to Team Canada was Russia, who managed a 3-3 tie. It was a real team effort by Canada, as no one from the country made the All-Star Team despite the fact that four Canadians cracked the top-10 in scoring, including Martin Gendron who led the low-scoring tournament with seven goals and four assists. Niklas Sundstrom of Sweden, who also had 11 points (four goals, seven assists) was named the Best Forward, while teammate Kenny Jonsson was the Best Defenseman. Russia's Yevgeny Ryabchikov made the All-Star Team in goal, but it was Canada's Jamie Storr who was named the tournament's Best Goalie.
