IIHF Men's Junior Under 20 World Hockey Championships
On home ice in Red Deer Alberta, Canada made it three gold medals in a row at the 1995 World Junior Championships. For the first time in tournament history, Canada ran up a perfect record of 7-0. Due to a labor dispute in the NHL , the regular season did not start until mid-January and several junior-aged players who might not otherwise have been available were able to join the Canadian team. Canadian players grabbed the top three spots in tournament scoring, with Marty Murray leading the pack with 15 points (six goals and nine assists). Jason Allison also had 15 points on three goals and 12 assists, while Bryan McCabe had three goals and nine assists. McCabe was named the tournament's Best Defenseman, with Murray selected as the Best Forward. Yevgeny Tarasov of the silver medal-winning Russians was named the Best Goalie. The bronze medal at the tournament went to Sweden.
