A top goaltender with Tunabro and Leksands from 1971-72 until 1976-77, Goran Hogosta also played for the Swedish National Team at four consecutive World Championships from 1975 to 1978 and at the inaugural Canada Cup tournament in 1976. He won two bronze medals and a silver medal at the world event and was named both an all-star and best goalie at the 1977 tournament. Previously, Hogosta had been named best goalie at the European Junior Championships in 1973.
Hogosta spent three seasons in North America, playing one game with the New York Islanders in 1977-78 and 21 with the Quebec Nordiques in 1979-80, but spending the majority of his time in the minor leagues. He returned to Sweden in 1980-81 and spent eight seasons with Vastra Frolunda. |
