Shelley Looney

Shelley Looney was one of the American team's top scorers with four goals in six games as the United States won the gold medal in women's hockey at the 1998 Nagano Olympics. Her goal at 10:57 of the second period in the gold medal game against Canada gave the Americans a 2-0 lead and proved to be the game-winner in a 3-1 victory. Looney returned to the Olympics in 2002 and was a key member of the silver winning squad.

A tough competitor and all-around player who is solid both offensively and defensively, Looney suffered a broken jaw at the World Championships in 1997 after blocking a shot in overtime in the gold medal game eventually won by Canada. Looney has played for the U.S. team that has earned silver at the World Championship in 1992, 1994, 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2004. She also represented her country at the Pacific Rim Championship in 1995.
