Buzz Schneider

Buzz Schneider was the only member of the 1980 United States "Miracle on Ice Team" who had played in the 1976 Innsbruck Olympics. He had also represented his country when the Americans won the B-Pool World Championship in 1974. Schneider had been at the A-Pool World Championships in 1975, 1976 and 1977 and would be again in 1982.

Schneider played with Mark Pavelich and John Harrington on the "Conehead Line" (named after the Saturday Night Live characters) on the 1980 Olympic Team. The oldest player on the U.S. squad, the 25-year-old Schneider has been called the unsung hero of the team by assistant coach and general manager Craig Patrick. Schneider contributed five goals and three assists to the gold medal effort.
