Winthrop Palmer

Winthrop "Ding" Palmer is the leading goal-scorer in the history of Yale University hockey, collecting 87 goals from 1927-28 to 1929-30. In his three seasons at Yale, the Elis posted a combined record of 45-6-2. He scored an astounding 41 goals in 17 games in 1927-28, including seven in a single game against New Hampshire.

After leaving Yale, Palmer played for the 1932 U.S. Olympic hockey team that lost the gold medal to Canada thanks to a 2-1 loss in the opening game at Lake Placid. In 1933, he played for the American squad that defeated Canada 2-1 in Prague, Czechoslovakia to win the World Championship for the United States for the first time.
