Although Team Canada failed to reach the medal podium when Dale Hawerchuk was a member of the squad at the World Junior Championships in 1981, he would later earn a bronze medal at the World Championships in both 1982 and 1986. In 1989, Hawerchuk had four goals and eight assists four 12 points in 10 games as Canada captured a silver medal. His greatest international successes came at the Canada Cup, where the gifted offensive center was usually asked to take on a supporting role. Hawerchuk collected six points in nine games in Canada's thrilling victory in 1987 and had five points in nine games in the 1991 Canada Cup championship. |
