Career One of the rare native Italians to have played in North America ... Oberrauch toiled for one season in the Western Hockey League when he was 19 (1985-86) ... He played for two teams in the WHL: Kamloops and Moose Jaw ... Oberrauch was impressed by one of his teammates, forward Theo Fleury, now an NHL star with the Calgary Flames ... Oberrauch started in the Italian League when he was 16 years old, the youngest player ever to play at that level in Italy ... His team, HC Bolzano, has won seven championships in his 15 years there ... He left the HC Bolzano team for one year to play for AC Milan Hockey in 1989-90, but then returned.
