International One of the most respected coaches in the history of hockey ... Named the coach of Czechoslovakian National Team in 1957 ... Worked with the National Team until 1973 (with few interruptions) ... Coached the team at two Olympics and 11 World and European Championships ... In 1972, under his coaching, the Czechoslovak team won the gold medal at World Championships ... The team had won a silver medal at the 1968 Grenoble Olympics and at the World Championship in 1961, 1965, 1966, 1968 and 1971, Bronze medals came at the World Championship in 1957, 1963, 1969, 1970 and 1973.

Career Began his hockey career in 1938 ... Played as center and a defenceman until 1954 with Sokol Konice, SK Konice, VS Brono, Slavia Brno, Banis Ostrava and VS Praha ... Got into coaching after his playing career and as head coach of VS Praha until 1956.
