Jaroslav Drobny

Jaroslav Drobny was born October 12, 1921 in Prague. He was a multitalented athlete and began his career as an ice hockey player in his native Czecholovakia in 1933. Drobny represented his country at the 1939 IIHF Championship in Basel, and returned to the IIHF Championships to win the gold medal in 1947. The following year Czechoslovakia captured a silver medal at the Olympic Winter Games in St. Moritz and Drobny was a leading player on that team. During his career, he represented his country in 31 games scoring 36 goals. Drobny also represented Czechoslovakia in Davis Cup tennis competitions and captured the Wimbledon Single's title in 1954 representing Egypt. Star Player Photo
