Marcel Dionne

An NHL superstar on a team that rarely enjoyed playoff success, Marcel Dionne represented his country with distinction at four World Championships. Dionne was named the Best Forward at the tournament in 1978 after scoring nine goals and collecting 12 points in 10 games as Canada returned to the medal podium for the first time since 1967 with a third-place finish. Dionne played for Canada at the 1979 World Championships and earned a bronze medal again in 1983 and 1986.

Dionne was also a member of Team Canada at the first Canada Cup in 1976, collecting six points (a goal and five assists) in seven games as Canada won the inaugural event. He had four goals in six games in 1981when Canada lost the Canada Cup to the Soviet Union.
