Like most members of the 1961 Trail Smoke Eaters, Adolphe "Addy" Tambellini was employed by the Cominco Mining Company and was given seven weeks paid leave in order to prepare for and attend the World Championships in Switzerland. The youngest member of the 1961 team and a center with with blazing speed, Tambellini was converted to left wing when Mike Legace was added to the Smoke Eaters roster. He scored two goals at the world tournament as Trail became the last Canadian amateur team to win the World Championship.
In 1963, Tambellini made his second international appearance when Trail once again earned the right to represent Canada at the World Championships. He had six goals and five assists that year and was named to the tournament All-Star Team though Trail could finish no better than fourth. It was the last time that a club team ever represented Canada at the World Championships. Tambellini's final appearance at the event came in 1967 when he earned a bronze medal as a member of the Canadian National Team. |
