Bill Warwick

Bill Warwick had many years of professional hockey behind him, including brief trials with the NHL's New York Rangers in 1942-43 and 1943-44 before having his amateur status re-instated and joining the Penticton Vees in 1952-53. In 1953-54 he set an all-time Okanagan Senior Hockey League record with 50 goals and had 95 points in just 58 games to win the league's Most Valuable Player award. He also lead Penticton to the Allan Cup that year. As defending Allan Cup champions in 1955, Penticton earned the right to represent Canada at the World Championships.

Combining tough physical play with a deft scoring touch, Bill Warwick, along with brothers Dick and Grant (Penticton's playing coach) led the Vees to the world title in 1955. Bill Warwick was the team's top scorer, collecting 13 goals as the Canadian team posted a perfect record of 8-0. He had six goals in a 12-1 win over the United States to open the tournament and scored two goals in the final game when Penticton beat the Soviets 5-0 to clinch the World Championship. Warwick was named the Best Forward at the tournament.
