Darryl Sittler joined Paul Henderson on the honor roll of Canadian international goal-scoring heroes on September 15, 1976 when his overtime goal against Vladimir Dzurilla gave Team Canada a 5-4 win over Czechoslovakia and a sweep of the best-of-three final in the inaugural Canada Cup. Sittler's four goals in seven tournament games tied Gilbert Perreault and Phil Esposito for second place on the Canadian team behind Bobby Hull's five.
Darryl Sittler's only other international appearance came at the World Championships in 1983. That year, he contributed three goals to Canada's bronze medal effort. |
