Mike Bossy

One of the most prolific goal-scorers in NHLhistory, Mike Bossy also starred on the international level at the Canada Cup tournaments in 1981 and 1984. Though Canada was defeated 8-1 by the Soviet Union in the championship game in 1981, Bossy's eight goals led the tournament and his 11 points were just one behind Wayne Gretzky's total of 12. (Bryan Trottier, Guy Lafleur and Alexei Kasatonov also had 11 points that year.) Bossy was named a tournament All-Star.

Bossy was back at the Canada Cup in 1984 and his overtime goal in the one-game semifinal with the Soviets that year gave Canada a 3-2 win and advanced the team to the finals where they beat Sweden in two-straight games. Bossy played on a line with New York Islanders teammates John Tonelli and Brent Sutter at that tournament. Tonelli was named the Canada Cup's Most Valuable Player.
