Ed Jovanovski

Ed Jovanovski proved at the 2002 Olympics that he was going to be a force in international hockey for a long time when he was a key member of Team Canada's gold medal performance. The former 1st overall pick by the Florida Panthers in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft used his excellent skating ability, robust style and offensive skills to become one of Canada's most reliable defensemen throughout the tournament.

Jovanovski had previously won gold with Canada at the 1994-95 World Junior Championships where he scored two goals. Jovanovski was named to the Team Canada World Cup team in 1996, but as a young player on a veteran team did not dress for any game action and in 2004 but only played in one game due to injury. Jovanovski has also represented his country in two World Championships, joining Canada for the 1998 and 2000 tournaments.

Jovanovski was named to the NHL All-Rookie team in 1996 after a strong season with the Florida Panthers that saw the Cinderella team march to the Stanley Cup finals where they were defeated by the Colorado Avalanche. He currently stars with the Vancouver Canucks after being involved in a blockbuster trade that saw him move from Florida to Vancouver in a deal including Pavel Bure.
