One of the winningest goalies in NHLhistory, Grant Fuhr first showcased his talent on the international stage as one of three goaltenders (Pete Peeters and Reggie Lemelin) with Team Canada at the 1984 Canada Cup. In 1987, Fuhr played all nine games as the Canadians again won the Canada Cup this time beating the Russians in a thrilling three-game final. Though his 3.34 goals-against average was among the highest at the event, his record of 6-1-2 was the best and Fuhr was selected to the tournament All-Star Team. In 1989, Fuhr combined with Sean Burke in the Canadian goal to help lead Canada to a silver medal at the World Championships. |
