After Canada's official return to international hockey at the World Championships in 1977, Father David Bauer was able to convince Hockey Canada to reinstitute the National Team program for the still strictly amateur Olympic Games. Among the players who would compete for Canada at the 1980 Olympics was Glenn Anderson. The Canadian team finished sixth at the Lake Placid Games, and Anderson went on to an NHL career that would see him play on six Stanley Cup champions. In addition to his NHL success, Anderson was also a member of Canadian teams that won the Canada Cup in 1984 and 1987. He also represented Canada at the World Championships in 1989 and 1992, winning a silver medal with the 1989 Team Canada squad.Anderson played his last season of professional hockey with HC La Chaux-de-Fonds in Switzerland during the 1996-97 season. |
