Paul Johnson was already an experienced international player, having represented the United States at the World Championships in 1958 and 1959, when he was named to the United States Olympic Team in 1960. A powerful skater and talented offensive threat, Johnson contributed five goals and three assists, including the game-winner in a key 2-1 victory over Canada, as the U.S. earned a surprising gold medal at Squaw Valley, California. Johnson also played for his country at the 1961 World Championships and was again a member of the U.S. team at the Innsbruck Olympics in 1964. |
