The Toronto Granites, representing Canada, overwhelmed their opposition en route to the Olympic gold. In the qualifying round, they defeated Czechoslovakia 30-0, Sweden 22-0, and Switzerland 33-0. They then beat Great Britain 19-2 and claimed gold with a 6-1 victory over the United States. Canada's sharpshooter was Harry Watson. He scored 13 goals in the game against Switzerland and 11 against the Czechoslovaks. His 36-goal total in just five tournament games stood as the most productive individual performance of all time. After the Olympics, Watson spurned numerous offers to turn professional in the NHL. Four other players from this Granites nine-man roster did however join the NHL: Dunc Munro (Montreal Maroons), Beattie Ramsay (Toronto St. Pats), Hooley Smith (Ottawa Senators), and Bert McCaffery (Toronto St. Pats).
