The USSR's domination of the Olympics continued. The great Vladislav Tretiak tended goal for arguably the finest Soviet team ever assembled. Valeri Kharlamov led the Olympics in goals (nine) and points (15), while Anatoli Firsov, Vladimir Vikulov, Alexander Matlsev, Yuri Blinov starred throughout the tournament for the champions.
