Oldrich Machac


Born on April 18, 1944 in Prostejov, Czechoslovakia. Defenseman Oldrich Machac participated in eleven IIHF World Championship tournaments, claiming the IIHF World Championship title in 1972, 1976 and 1977, while taking home four silver medals and three bronze medals to add to his merits. During that 1972 championship victory, Machac was further rewarded by gaining a birth on the tournament all-star team. In three Olympic Winter Games appearances, Machac earned two silver medals and one bronze. Overall, Machac played 293 national team games for Czechoslovakia. Domestically, he played for both the ZKL Brno and the Kosice club teams in his native country, but finished his career in the German Bundesliga with SB Rosenheim winning the national championship title in 1982.
