Ludek Bukac


Born on April 8, 1935. Ludek Bukac played 13 seasons and 330 games in Czechloslovakia, scoring 153 goals. He played in two IIHF World Championships earning a silver in 1961 and a bronze in 1963. But his most successful years were spent behind the bench. Domestically, he coached Sparta, Kosice and Ceske Budejovice, and was the national coach from 1979 to 1985, winning the World Championship in 1985, and the Olympic silver medal in 1984. After decade a break, he returned behind the national team bench from 1994-1996, winning one additional World Championship. Ludek was also the coach of the Austrian and German national teams.
