Seth Martin


Goalkeeper Seth Martin was born on May 4, 1933 in Rossland, British Columbia, Canada. He represented his hometown Trail Smoke Eaters at the 1961 IIHF World Championship in Switzerland and won a gold medal after allowing only 11 goals against in 7 games. Martin also represented Canada in the IIHF World Championships in 1963, 1964, 1966, and 1967 winning bronze medals in four championships. He participated in the 1964 Olympic Winter Games in Innsbruck finishing fourth. Martin was selected as best IIHF World Championship goalkeeper in 1961, 1963, 1964, and 1966 (second all-time to Jiri Holecek's five Directorate awards) and was elected to the Championship All-Star Team in 1961, 1964, and 1966. Martin also played professional ice hockey in the NHL with the St. Louis Blues for one season.
