Anders Hedberg


Anders Hedberg was born February 25, 1951 in Omskoldsvik, Sweden. He played his first-ever Swedish national league game at the age of 16 for MoDo and later represented Djurgarden. Hedberg participated in the IIHF World Championships in 1970, 1972, 1973, and 1974, winning one silver and two bronze medals. He also represented "Three Crowns" at the 1976 Canada Cup. In 1974, Hedberg left Sweden to play professional ice hockey with the Winnipeg Jets in the WHA and the New York Rangers in the NHL. His exceptional speed and skill attracted fans from all over the world. Hedberg later worked with AlK as General Manager and a professional scout for NHL teams. He is now with the Toronto Maple Leafs. As a career highlight, Anders Hedberg was elected to the NHL All-Star team to play against the former Soviet Union in the 1979 Challenge Cup series.
