Ronald Pettersson


Born April 16, 1935. Ronald Pettersson played for three different teams during 16 seasons in Sweden, during which he won two national titles. Pettersson also starred in 10 IIHF World Championships capturing two world titles, three silver medals and two bronze. His three Olympic events in 1956, 1960 and 1964 left him with a silver medal from his last Olympic tournament and combining it all, Pettersson had played 252 games for the National Team, a record at the time, still ranks third today. Upon retirement, Pettersson got involved in coaching in 1968, first with the junior program for five seasons, where he led the kids to the 1972 European Championship and later the Swedish National Team guiding them to two third place finishes during his three year term, before he lent his expertise to the Norwegians, heading up its National Team from 1978 to 1981.
