Martin Brodeur of the New Jersey Devils won the Vezina Trophy for the second consecutive time in 2003-04, becoming the first back-to-back winner since Dominik Hasek accomplished the feat in 1999. Brodeur would play in 75 of the Devils 82 games and lead all NHL netminders in wins (38), shutouts (11) and total ice time (4,550:16). The 1st Team All-Star would also capture the Jennings Trophy as the Devils set a new NHL record by allowing only 164 goals against through the 2003-04 season. Brodeur recorded a 2.03 goals against average, fourth best in the league, along with a .917 save percentage. Also a Hart Trophy finalist for the second consecutive year, Brodeur reached both the 400-win and 75-shutout milestones during the 2003-04 season. Calgary's Miikka Kiprusoff was the Vezina runner-up.
