Ten years after Montreal Canadiens goaltender Patrick Roy captured his third VEZINA TROPHY, another Canadiens netminder captured the imagination of all goaltenders aspiring to the NHL. His name was JOSÉ THÉODORE. After backstopping the Montreal Canadiens to their first Stanley Cup playoff appearance since the 1996-97 season, THÉODORE captured his first VEZINA TROPHY as the league's top goalie. THÉODORE finished 2001-02 with a 30-24-10 record in 67 games, leading all goaltenders with a .931 save percentage, second in shutouts with seven and fourth in goals against average with a 2.11 mark. The pre-mentioned Patrick Roy, winner of three VEZINAS himself, was runner-up.
