KEN DRYDEN captured his second career VEZINA TROPHY with the Montreal Canadiens as the team allowed a league-low 174 goals. Although fellow netminder MICHEL LAROCQUE shared in the prize money, he did not meet the qualifying standard of 25 games played, appearing in only 22. The Habs finished first overall and ended the Philadelphia Flyers two-year reign as Stanley Cup champions. DRYDEN led the Habs to an NHL records of 58 wins and 127 points, while finishing with a league-best 42 wins, eight shutouts and a 2.03 goals-against average. Glenn Resch and Billy Smith of the Isles finished as VEZINA runners-up.
