Thirty-year-old goaltender and career minor leaguer CHARLIE HODGE, who began the season with the Quebec Aces in the American Hockey League, was called up by Montreal after 10 games due to an injury to Hab's starter GUMP WORSLEY. CHARLIE would spend the rest of the season, his first full year in the NHLer, with the Habs, leading them to a first place finish and the VEZINA TROPHY with a league-low team goals-against average of 2.39. HODGE, who would also be named a Second Team All-Star, had a record of 33-18-11, a 2.26 goals-against average, and a league-best eight shutouts. Chicago's Glenn Hall was the VEZINA runner-up.
