JACQUES PLANTE would set career highs across the board during the 1955-56 NHL season while capturing his first VEZINA TROPHY and leading the Montreal Canadiens to one of the most dominant seasons in league history. PLANTE'S league highs of 42 wins and a 1.86 goals-against average, along with seven shutouts were all tops in his NHL career. The marks enabled the Habs to set a new club record for points in a season with 100 and a new NHL record for wins with 45 during a season in which they lost only five games at home. Glenn Hall of Detroit was the trophy's runner-up.
