Montreal Canadiens

BILL DURNAN capped a tremendous season in 1946-47 by becoming the first goaltender in the 21-year history of the VEZINA TROPHY to take home the award in four consecutive seasons. Leading the Montreal Canadiens to an NHL record fourth consecutive regular season championship and the Prince of Wales Trophy, DURNAN was also a First Team All-Star for a club that lost only six games on home ice. Over the course of the season, BILL was at the top of the goals-against average chart for 21 of a possible 24 weeks in the season, finishing with a 2.30 average and 138 goals against. He also produced a record of 34-16-10 with four shutouts and beat out runner-up Walter Broda of Toronto for the VEZINA.
