After superstar goaltender Georges Vezina passed away shortly after an on-ice accident, the Canadiens turned to Toronto native GEORGE HAINSWORTH, who was previously playing for the Saskatoon Crescents in the Western Hockey League. Entering his rookie season in the NHL, HAINSWORTH played like a seasoned pro, leading the Habs to a second place finish behind the Ottawa Senators. Playing all 44 games for Montreal, his record was an impressive 28-14-2 with 14 shutouts and a goals-against average of 1.47. Clint Benedict of the Maroons was the VEZINA runner-up.
