Boston Bruins
1928-29

This was the first series in which two American teams were involved in the final. The Boston Bruins were matched up against the defending Cup champs, the New York Rangers. Boston reached the finals by virtue of defeating Toronto, while New York went undefeated in its two series to earn the right to vie for the championship. In the Cup finals, New York was held to just one goal by the Bruins' outstanding netminder Tiny Thompson, and Boston won the best of three series two games to one. Dit Clapper and Harry Oliver scored the two game-winning goals for the beantowners. This was the first Stanley Cup victory for the Bruins' franchise.
