The 2006-07 Buffalo Sabres' stormed into the regular season tying an NHL record by winning their first ten games. The Sabers also set an NHL record by winning their first ten road games of the season, not losing outside the HSBC Arena until November 18th in Ottawa. Their success continued throughout the regular season despite a number of injuries to key players on their roster including forward Maxim Afinogenov. In early April the Sabres clinched the Northeast Division crown and recorded the best record in the Eastern Conference. Days later, the club secured their first Presidents Trophy in team history with a victory over the Washington Capitals.
