Kolzig, Olaf
Washington Capitals

Longtime Washington Capitals netminder and inspirational leader Olaf Kolzig became the first player in club history and only the second goaltender to win the prestigious King Clancy Memorial Trophy. One of the driving forces in the Washington D.C. community since he arrived more than 15 years ago, Kolzig has worked closely over the years with the Children's Medical Center. Since 1999, he has purchased ten season tickets that are given to patients at the hospital, who then become his guest at a game and has helped raise over $650,000 through various charitable endeavours. Perhaps the closest to Kolzig's heart, however, is his work as one the nation's leading spokesmen in raising awareness and money for autism research. After learning that his son, Carson, was autistic four years ago, Kolzig dedicated himself to assisting others in a similar position and is a founding member of the group, Athletes Against Autism.
