Jarome Iginla, captain and leader of the Calgary Flames franchise, became the third player in team history to receive the prestigious King Clancy Memorial Trophy. Iginla's exuberant personality and conviction to community service made him a favourite among the residents of Calgary. Taking part in all Flames' community programs, Iginla was most involved as the spokesperson for "Reading?Give It a Shot" over the past six seasons and since 2000 has donated $1,000 for every goal he scored to KidSport Calgary. In addition to these great programs, the 2nd Team NHL All-Star spent countless hours as a guest speaker, visiting hospitals and hosting a non-profit summer hockey school. Jarome was also the Honourary Special Events Chair for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation of Calgary and took part in programs for the Canadian Spinal Research Organization.
