Boston Bruins
2008-09

During his second season as head coach of the Boston Bruins, Claude Julien surprised many by leading the up-and-coming club to a first place finish in the Eastern Conference, finishing only one point behind the San Jose Sharks for first place overall in the entire NHL. The third Bruins head coach to win the Jack Adams Award, Julien led the Bruins to a 53-19-10 record for a total of 116 points, which was a 22 point improvement over their previous season's record and the third best record in the franchise's 85-year history. Julien forged a strong defensive conscience as the Bruins finished with a league-leading 2.32 goals against average; yet, done so while not restricting the offence which finished second in the league behind only the Detroit Red Wings with 270 goals scored.
