ORVAL TESSIER became the first Blackhawks coach to win the JACK ADAMS AWARD. Chicago finished the season with 104 points to lead the Norris Division. After 30 wins and 12 ties in 1981-82, TESSIER'S coaching influence helped guide the Blackhawks to 47 wins and 10 ties in 1982-83. TESSIER was aided by Denis Savard who finished third in league scoring. The trophy's runner-up was not disclosed.
