TOM WATT became the first Jets coach to win the JACK ADAMS AWARD. The former WHA franchise finished a strong second in the Norris Division with 80 points on the strength of 33 wins and 14 ties. Winnipeg had been mired in the league basement during their first two NHL seasons. Under WATT’S tutelage, the Jets improved their performance by 48 points in the standings in one season. The trophy’s runner-up was not disclosed.
