SERGEI FEDOROV joined the Detroit Red Wings in 1990-91, and in spite of being a freshman, played with the poise of a veteran. He totalled 79 points in 77 games as a rookie, and set the blueprint for a fine career to follow. Point totals of 86 and 87 led up to the 1993-94 season. That year, FEDOROV broke out. He scored 56 goals and 64 assists for a career best 120 points -- good for second place in regular season scoring. FEDOROV was the NHL's selection to the First All-Star Team as well as the NHL's best defensive forward, winning the Selke Trophy. SERGEI also won both league MVP awards - the Pearson and HART TROPHY. Buffalo's goaltender Dominik Hasek was the HART runner-up.
