1926-27
HERB GARDINER joined the Montreal Canadiens of the NHL in 1926-27, and playing defense, scored six goals and six assists for 12 points and helped the Canadiens to a second place finish. The Winnipeg Manitoba-born blueliner helped Montreal considerably, and was awarded the HART TROPHY as the league's most valuable player. The Rangers' Bill Cook was the runner-up for the award.
