Forsberg, Peter
Quebec Nordiques
1994-95

FORSBERG was Philadelphia's first pick in the 1991 entry draft after starring with MoDo in his native Sweden. But before he was ever able to slip into a Flyers' sweater, PETER was sent to the Quebec Nordiques along with Steve Duchesne, Ron Hextall, Kerry Huffman, Mike Ricci, Chris Simon, number one draft choices in 1992 and 1993 plus $15 million while Eric Lindros went to Philadelphia. The trade worked well for both parties, although long term, it is arguable that Quebec, later moving to Colorado, benefited most from the trade. In 1994-95, PETER FORSBERG debuted as an NHLer, wearing the white and blue of the Quebec Nordiques. He started the season with MoDo, but after 11 games, joined Quebec and played the rest of the season. In 47 games, Peter Forsberg scored 15 goals, had 35 assists and 50 points. He received the CALDER TROPHY as the best rookie in the NHL in 1994-95. Washington's goaltender, Jim Carey, was runner-up in the voting.
