GARY SUTER, born June 24, 1964 in Madison Wisconsin, coming out of university to join the Calgary Flames for the 1985-86 campaign. A defenceman, SUTER was immediately employed in every situation: power play, penalty killing, and responded by pumping in 18 goals and 50 assists for 68 points, adding 141 penalty minutes as well. The NHL awarded SUTER with the CALDER TROPHY as rookie of the year, edging Toronto's Wendel Clark.
