The first choice of the Boston Bruins in the 1979 draft, RAYMOND BOURQUE left his Montreal Quebec home and stepped right into the NHL that fall. In his rookie season, BOURQUE combined the poise of a veteran with youthful leadership, strong defensive play and a flair for offensive too. Finishing the season with 17 goals and 48 assists, RAYMOND BOURQUE was both a First Team All-Star and the CALDER TROPHY winner in 1979-80. Mike Foligno of Detroit came in second in CALDER balloting.
