Mahovlich, Frank
Toronto Maple Leafs

FRANK MAHOVLICH, born January 10, 1938 in Timmins, Ontario, was part of the Leafs building plans of the late 1950s. A number of young prospects were discovered in the Northern Ontario region and brought south to play with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Besides MAHOVLICH, Tim Horton, George Armstrong, Dick Duff, Dave Keon and Al Arbour all came from the area to feed the Toronto farm system. MAHOVLICH joined the Leaf lineup for three games in 1956-57, but was added as a regular the next season. Playing left wing, FRANK MAHOVLICH scored 20 goals, added 16 assists for 36 points, winning the CALDER TROPHY over the Black Hawks' Bobby Hull.
