Park, Brad
Detroit Red Wings
1983-84

During an era when Bobby Orr monopolized headlines concerning defensemen, BRAD PARK quietly carried on a very successful Hall of Fame career. PARK began with the New York Ranger, earning three First Team All-Star berths and two Second Team selections. But the NHL world was rocked in 1975-76 when PARK, Jean Ratelle and Joe Zanussi were sent to the Boston Bruins in exchange for Phil Esposito and Carol Vadnais. PARK continued his excellence, even after splitting the season, earning yet another selection to the NHL's First All-Star Team. BRAD PARK ruled the Boston blueline (Orr had been traded to the Hawks in 1976-77) for seven seasons, then was signed by the Detroit Red Wings for the 1983-84 season. BRAD PARK played two seasons in Detroit, and then retired. But in 1983-4, his first season as a Red Wing, BRAD PARK was selected as the MASTERTON TROPHY winner for 1983-84, commemorating an exceptional career of dedication to the game of hockey.
