DON LUCE broke into the NHL with the New York Rangers in 1969-70, playing just 12 games. The next season, after just nine games, LUCE was traded to the Red Wings, who used him as a checking centre. But after the 1970-71 season, DON LUCE was traded to the Buffalo Sabres, where he played for 10 seasons. It was as a Sabre that LUCE was selected as the MASTERTON TROPHY winner in 1974-75. That season, LUCE had a career year. He scored 33 goals and 43 assists for 76 points, helping the Buffalo team to a 113 point season. That was an increase of 38 points from their previous season. For his perseverance and dedication to hockey, DON LUCE was chosen as the 1974-75 recipient of the MASTERTON TROPHY.
