Richard, Henri
Montreal Canadiens
1973-74
In the case of 1973-74's MASTERTON TROPHY recipient, the award was more to honour a career of achievements rather than the impact of a single season. HENRI RICHARD was nearing the end of his Hall of Fame career in 1973-74. He hadn't scored more than 16 goals since 1966-67, but in 1973-74, he reached 19. RICHARD won 11 Stanley Cups during his celebrated career?more than any other player in NHL history. RICHARD finished the 1973-74 season with 1,033 points in 1240 games. For 19 seasons, RICHARD had starred with the Canadiens, captaining his hometown team from 1971-72 until he retired. To commemorate an extraordinary career, HENRI RICHARD was presented with the MASTERTON TROPHY for 1973-74. The next season, HENRI played just 16 games, deciding to end his phenomenal on-ice hockey life.
