Casey Bailey was born on October 27, 1991 in Anchorage, Alaska. He played for the Alberni Valley Bulldogs of the BCHL before attending Penn State University. His third and final season at Penn State would be Bailey's best. In 37 games he scored 22 times and 18 assists for 40 points. For his efforts he received Big Ten Conference First All-Star Team honours.

Following his 2014-15 collegiate campaign Bailey inked a deal with the Toronto Maple Leafs. He would appear in the club's final six games, scoring his first NHL goal in April 11, 2015 against Carey Price and the Montreal Canadiens.

Bailey would begin the 2015-16 season with the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League. In 38 games for the club he scored four times and added 14 assists. On February 9, 2016, Bailey's time in Toronto would come to an end. He was part on the nine player blockbuster trade that sent he, Dion Phaneuf, Matt Frattin, Ryan Rupert and Cody Donaghey to the Ottawa Senators.

Bailey would spend the majority of the 2016-17 season at the AHL level with the Binghamton Senators. In 62 games for the club he scored 21 times and added 16 assists. Bailey would also suit up in seven games for Ottawa over the course of the season.
